Indy Pass adds Hickory Ski Center

GRANBY, COLORADO – Today Indy Pass announced they are working with Unofficial Networks to provide financial assistance to Hickory Ski Center in Warrensburg NY. The goal is to help Hickory secure the insurance needed to run lifts for the first time in eight years.

Hickory Hill was founded by veterans of the 10th Mountain Division in 1946 and has been part of the community since that time. Faced with rising costs for lift inspection and insurance, the ski area faces an uncertain future. Recently Hickory laid out the numbers and the challenge inspired Tim Konrad, publisher of Unofficial Networks.

Whiteface: Earning Opening Day

Thanksgiving is time to be appreciate, and gather with family to celebrate the approaching new year. For me, it’s also the start to one of the best times of the year: ski season. Shoppers are searching for the deals on Black Friday, skiers head to mountains with snow. Whiteface, Jay Peak, and Smuggler’s Notch to name a few.

Conditions are generally less than ideal in November, with most ski areas opening a handful of groomed trails for skiers of all abilities. This combination can feel chaotic to a reclusive skier, who’d rather seek solitude somewhere in the backcountry.

Killington World Cup 2023

One hundred athletes from sixty countries around the globe took on Killington for the 7th year in an incredible weekend at the annual Women’s Audi Ski World Cup. Mother nature complied and the course on Superstar was an icy vertical sheet, just how the athletes like it.

Dropping at 1,200 vertical feet, 4,800 in length with a pitch from 30 to 50 degrees for the Giant Slalom, the course is steep. On the final headwall section, also known as Preston’s Pitch, it’s a steep, slick drop off onto some Northeast ice that’s been manicured and designed for maximal speed to the finish line. Throw in more cowbell and you get a course worthy of the finest female racers on the planet.
