Snow Ridge: Afternoon Deep

While visiting my parents in the Finger Lakes over the weekend I watched the weather reports. I was surprised to see a late season surge, a large amount of snow headed towards Tug Hill. Farah and I headed to Snow Ridge Sunday afternoon.

It was one of my deepest days, and possibly the best three hours of skiing I’ve ever had. I’m sure the following words or pictures won’t really do it justice.

Driving the Thruway it was clear skies and dry roads, but after getting off the interstate and driving north of Rome, conditions changed drastically. Deteriorated or improved, depending on your point of view.

Another Classic Bristol Saturday

Saturday looked like it was going to be prime after Friday’s storm. My old friend Dave was in town so we made plans to ski. We had grown up riding together at Bristol, so it’s always great to get together on those same slopes. We met up late morning with our significant others.

It was shortly after ten when we pulled into Bristol and made our way in from the outer lots. It was a beautiful sunny morning and people were already taking advantage of it.

After a short wait for the Comet Express we were up the hill to start our day. It was a perfect groomer day and the recent snow really help keep things soft.

Cazenovia Ski Club: Sign Me Up

Lift lines are all the rage these days, or maybe the cause of all the rage. I suppose that’s to be expected when the largest pass product is sold at a heavily discounted price. Still there are plenty of alternatives.

New York is home to six Indy Pass mountains along with the plethora of other great independent resorts. There are also a handful of private ski clubs around the state and last weekend I managed to ride one.

The idea of no crowds on a Sunday was too good to pass up, so when Jeff invited me to Cazenovia Ski Club I jumped.
