MattChuck is an accomplished skier from Clifton Park, NY. He’s a passholder at Gore Mountain who skis all across the northeast and at times out west. Following are excerpts from Matt’s review of a recent Ski Magazine piece on Gore.

To start, the author recommends checking in at the Fern Lodge in Chestertown or the Alpine lodge in North Creek. The article was probably written before the news about the Copperfield broke.

RAY BROOK, New York Gore Mountain Ski Center Interconnect The trail and lift design identified in the 2005 unit plan is unchanged from what was previously approved by the Agency and Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation on June 6, 2006. The interconnection to North Creek Ski Bowl was rescinded based on recognition that additional assessment of potential cumulative impacts from the Front Street residential resort project was necessary.

Gore Mountain, NY: 4/10/08

Gore Mountain SummitUp this morning and off to Gore, after skiing Whiteface yesterday. I was curious about the condition of Gore, and the coverage. I knew it would be interesting to compare the two mountains side by side under basically the same conditions.

Actually it was bad couple of days for electronics as my iPod died on the drive home too. Man I hate listening to the radio driving through the Catskills. Despite yesterdays really warm temps, it did go below freezing last night. At the cabin, all the puddles had a thin layer of ice.
