Governor Paterson’s Rafting Trip

Governor Paterson recently took a 2-day rafting trip through the Hudson Gorge with Beaver Brook Outfitters.

Politics aside, it’s a good thing whenever a governor experiences first-hand the outdoor recreation opportunities that we have in the mountains of New York.

Congratulations to Pete Burns and Beaver Brook Outfitters for being selected for the honor of guiding the Governor on the river.

Hunter Mountain’s Kaatskill Flyer

Hunter Mountain has released photos and video footage of what will be New York State’s first high-speed six-pack detachable chair: the “Kaatskill Flyer.” The new lift could be a game-changer for Hunter on busy weekends and holidays.

And, next summer, Hunter is planning to replace the two old fixed-grip lifts on its famed West Side with a new quad, as well as adding more snowmaking to cover the steep expert terrain.

Gore Mountain Brochure (1991)

“Located in the southern Adirondack Mountain community of North Creek, NY, Gore is best known for its intermediate terrain, New York State’s only gondola and the high speed triple chair that briskly conveys skiers from the base to the upper mountain.

The Gore Mt. area has a strong skiing tradition dating back to the 1930’s. The present ski area is in its 28th season of operation. Managed since 1984 by the Olympic Regional Development Authority, Gore has seen extensive enhancement in the past seven years. The most recent improvements include an increase in snowmaking and extensive trail widening on popular trails Sunway, Twister, Cloud and Upper Steilhang.
