Nick Z Productions Update

SnowmakingWe first profiled the snowmaking of Nick Z Productions back in April.

Now he’s hit the big time. Nick Z put together a photo/essay presentation about his snow making escapades last winter and submitted it to SNOWatHOME, his primary gun supplier.

Now Nick is the grand prize winner of the SNOWatHOME Photo Contest. The prize is full reimbursement for his gun. Nice Nick!

The Garden State: Ramp Season

After living in Brooklyn for seven years, I moved to New Jersey in 2004. Like most people, mention the Garden State and what came to mind for me was that 20-mile dead zone along the New Jersey Turnpike – all immortalized in the Sopranos’ opening theme…

I’m not here to argue that this hostile perception of New Jersey’s urban areas is false or exaggerated. But what surprises me is how bucolic and pleasant the rest of state is for outdoor people. The past two weekends, my family and I have been hiking at a 2,000-acre park a half mile from our house.

Spring Weekend in the Adirondacks

I usually head up to the Adirondacks in May, by myself, for a work weekend. Split the wood for next season, and handle other chores that bore the women folk. Last year, on May 2, I found it to be surprisingly buggy. With the early end to winter this year, I moved the work weekend up. This year CB and Neve really wanted to come.

Jeff, Beth Daniel and Sylvie, came up on Saturday, to check out the cabin, go for a hike and have a cookout.

It’s a short hike that starts by circling the base of the mountain crossing a few streams, and then it heads straight up for maybe 500 vertical feet.
