Ivy Ski ClubThe Ivy Ski Club is a national alpine society founded in 2011 by a group of passionate skiers. Currently, its members hail from 15 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Armed Forces, but its home base is Warrensburg, NY.

NYSkiBlog’s Jamesdeluxe sat down with Ivy Ski Club Chairman and Co-Founder David Cronheim to find out what led the club to pick upstate New York’s Warren County as its home.

OK Slip Falls, NY

OK Slip Falls is among the highest waterfalls in New York State. Located in the Adirondacks north of Route 28, halfway between North River and Indian Lake, the falls cascade nearly 250 feet in one spot on its path from OK Slip Pond to the Hudson River.

I’ve imagined OK Slip Falls ever since the late 70s when I first read about the remote and inaccessible wonder. For as long as I can remember, OK Slip Brook has been on land owned by the Finch Pryn paper company.

But in 2009, the OK Slip Tract was acquired by Nature Conservancy and in the past year the lands were sold to the state in a blockbuster land deal that included diverse parcels throughout the central and southwestern Adirondacks.

Gore Mountain Fall Update 2013

We got a quick update from Mike Pratt, Gore’s General Manager on news and improvements taking place at the mountain during the 2013 offseason.

The Adirondack Express: “All maintenance has been performed and the lift is ready to go for this season. But I know you are asking me a bigger question. Our goal is to replace this lift with new quad. It’s our top priority for capital improvement and will happen as soon as we can secure funding.”

Other Lift News: “We’ve added another conveyor lift that was bought last fall. We’re installing it on Bear Cub. The new lift will unload next to the loading station of existing conveyor.”
