A balmy 15 degrees when I left the cabin this morning. Headed over to the mountain for a short day, before packing up and making the drive home. Gore awaits:

morning

Today looked like it was not going to be busy, and with the amount of terrain open…I thought for sure it was going to be great morning. The moon was setting over the summit as I snagged an $8 parking spot:

My theory about strict 8:30 starts was debunked. Or it was bunk. We loaded at 8:15, I was in the third Gondi. I did three laps of the bottom before the rope dropped up top. I skied Sunway, QuickSilver and Showcase. As it was Friday and Saturday, Sunway had the best surface.

Ski Day 6: I have this friend James. He says…tele is too much work. “Why do you want to work so hard? Just have fun like a normal human being. Come over to the dark side of the force…”

For starters I overslept this morning, in response to the whuppin I took yesterday. When you’re going skiing and you wake up…because the sun woke you up…well that’s too darn late to be waking up. I got a $9 spot* in the lot this morning.

Ski Day 5: It was snowing last night when I got to the cabin. It snowed pretty hard most of the night.

I’d say we got about 8 or 9 inches by morning. I couldn’t sleep. I was constantly waking up and shining a headlamp out side to see if it was still snowing. It was. All snow up until 5:00 am which was when I finally just got up.

At 7:30 I walked down the path. A little crunch. In the last hour or so some sleet had fallen. I drove down the road towards the mountain. There were some turkeys in the road. When I got to the mountain, I got a parking spot valued at $10. The Lodge was empty.
