GRANBY, COLORADO—Indy Pass announced today that Loveland Resort in Colorado is among 52 resorts added to the Indy Pass since the end of last season including 11 in Japan, five in Europe, and three in Quebec, Canada.
Thirty of those resorts were announced at a media event in NYC last night. Marquis areas include Loveland Ski Area in Colorado; 12 resorts in Innsbruck, Austria; Bear Valley, California; and Massif du Sud in Quebec. Three ski clubs from New York are also on the list.
With the capacity these new resorts add, Indy Pass will release a limited quantity of passes for sale today while supplies last. This will be the final sale of the 24/25 season.
“Indy Pass now has over 230 resorts on three continents, and you can expect our remarkable growth to continue,” said Indy Pass director, Erik Mogensen. “Our mission and values command our support of independent ski areas and will continue to drive every decision we make, including not overselling the pass.”
Three of these new ski areas are in New York. Indy Pass has announced the addition of the Cazenovia Ski Club, Hunt Hollow Ski Club and the Cascasde XC Ski Center bringing the total number of NY areas to fourteen.
Cazenovia Ski Club
Cazenovia Ski Club is located just outside of Syracuse in the valley that forms the Chittenango Falls. Don’t let the vertical fool you, this little club has some fun terrain and legit steeps. They offer a cozy chalet and T bar to the top.
Jeff Cobb joined Caz in 2003 and says it was the best thing he’s ever done. Jeff has served at various levels in the organization and was on the board for 10 years. For him, Caz is more than a ski resort, it’s a community. Members roll their sleeves up and get involved. It’s a great place for kids to learn and after tackling the steeps here, they transition well to larger mountains.
The club is excited about being part of the Indy Pass, hoping to bring new skiers to experience the terrain and atmosphere. They encourage anyone who is interested to come ski the club and join. Cazenovia has a favored location and orientation for lake effect snow and you might be surprised at the hill’s powder day potential.
Hunt Hollow Ski Club
Hunt Hollow Ski Club is located in the Finger Lakes just south of Honeoye Lake. It offers some gorgeous views of the surrounding valley. The recently expanded lodge and deck offer some of the best aprés in the state. Hunt Hollow has 825 feet of vertical and nice variety of terrain including the double black glades “Gauntlet”. There is also a lively park crew at the resort serving up one of the sickest events in the northeast: Berms, Bruises and Beers.
General Manager Joe Callaghan has been working at Hunt Hollow for 42 years, since he was 10 years old. His staff includes several who have worked at Hunt for over 30 years. Joe will tell you, it’s all about lifelong friendship and family at Hunt Hollow.
The idea to join the Indy Pass actually originated at Hunt Hollow. Joe felt it was a perfect fit. Anyone coming to Hunt for the first time will find a good place to unleash their kids with uncrowded slopes and good conditions. Joe encourages folks to bring their food to grill, enjoy the weekend beer tastings from local breweries and jam out to live bands out on the deck. The deck is lively and it’s kept it open after the lifts close.
Cascade Ski Center
In summer 2024, the Adirondack Mountain Club agreed to join the Indy Pass. We asked Adirondack Mountain Club’s Zach Lawrence, — the general manager of Cascade Ski Center — about the news.
“We were looking into new opportunities” Lawrence said. “I’d been looking at the Indy Pass for a while and was excited by the nordic pass, and I reached out. I wasn’t expecting much, and I wasn’t sure we’d be eligible right away.”
“Doug Fish from Indy Pass was like, yeah, it’s pretty easy to join. The agreement is basic. If you do enough advertising for them, which is a couple of social media posts and email blasts, there’s really no cost to us. So it was kind of a no brainer.”
Lawrence expects Indy Pass to bring a modest sales bump. “What [Indy Pass] told us is that we can expect 100 or so more passes sold. We’re not expecting too much, but it’s a cool thing to be part of.”
Since we had Zach, we asked him: Mount van Hoevenberg and Cascade’s previous owners cross-honored each other’s passes. Any shot that will resume?
“We actually haven’t had a real conversation about it. But I think there’s interest on both sides.” We get a couple of questions a week about it in the winter. I think it’d be great; no reason I wouldn’t want to do it. It’s just a question of figuring out the logistics of how we distribute money between the two ski centers.”
Thanks Harv! New York is ground zero for the Indy Revolution!❄️
The Hunt Hollow addition is interesting in that it’s a private club, but is open to non members Wed-Friday. Wonder if they will allow Indy Passholders to ski on weekends?
I’m sure like many other independent ski areas, especially in Central and Western NY, they are probably looking for new revenue streams, especially considering the bad ski winters we’ve had for the last couple of years.
Love this! Caz Ski Club is my favorite place to ski in NY and I’m looking forward to enjoying the others on this list as well. THX
