Dry Hill Ski Area is on Alpine Ridge Road, 10 minutes south of downtown Watertown NY. The slope at Dry Hill got its name from a distillery that was located on the hill in the mid-1800s.
The Dry Hill trail map features one lift, serving 7 trails on 42 acres; 1.5 miles of terrain with 300 feet of vertical drop. Dry Hill has good snowmaking and advertises an average of 125 inches of natural snow each year. Not surprisingly, both the double chair and the T-bar were made by the Hall Ski Lift Company, also from Watertown, NY.
Dry Hill is a good place to learn to ski or ride. The ski area is also home to a terrain park and a snow tubing park, both which benefit from extensive snowmaking.
Skiers can enjoy warm après atmosphere by the fire, in the Fireside Lounge. From the sound of the reviews, it’s quite nice.
Dry Hill Ski Area has had an interesting succession of owners including Hall Lifts and Labrador Mountain. In September of 2022 Dry Hill longtime owners Tim and Deb McAtee sold the ski area to Boo Wells-Jareo and her husband, Patrick Jareo.
Dry Hill is now part of the Indy Pass.
