Snowmaking and Grooming
The biggest news is the “zoning” of Belleayre’s snowmaking system. Before this season in order to blow snow anywhere on the hill snowmakers were required to charge or pressurize the entire system. Now the system can be sectioned off allowing ops to be much more flexible and cost effective.
In addition Belleayre has added a new electric Cameron Turbo Air 3000 compressor and 25 new Sky Giant flanged heads for snowguns. Coupled together these two improvements will allow the use of high efficiency guns at the top of the mountain.
Segregating into zones allows Belleayre to boost water pressure and use of high efficiency guns which only require about 50-60 cfm of air each.
Belleayre has also added a Pisten Bully PB400 to their fleet of grooming machines.
Buildings and Lodges
A new “membrane” structure (120′ x 50′) is being located adjacent to the Discovery Lodge. All ticketing and rental/repair will be done from there. Tiger Den daycare will now be located adjacent to KidsKamp. This will double the available space for Kidscamp and the Tiger Den that will expand into the old rental shop. More space for seating and registration will be available in the Kids Zone.
The Overlook Lodge cafeteria will get the same renovation that occurred in the Discovery Lodge cafeteria last year. The goal will be to reduce lines, bottlenecks and have better flow. Additional seating will be created next to the administrative offices.
The Discovery Lodge is getting a restroom makeover with completely remodeled tile, flooring, stalls and fixtures.
SKI3 Snow Sampler – ORDA is adding new SKI3 products to include the new SKI3 Snow Sampler. Four fully-transferable lift tickets valid at Belleayre, Gore and Whiteface Mountains any day during the 2014-2015 season. In addition a SKI3 Military pass for $459 will be offered to active military members and their families.
Belleayre.com will be complete redesigned to be fully responsive to a devices (desktop, tablet and smartphone). Earlier this summer the Belleayre.com online store was upgraded to be compatible with the new site, to be completed by opening day.
