Magic Conditions

The sport really needs new blood to stay alive and Platty is grooming the slopes to provide a genuine ski experience for new skiers. Great thing is that finances the operation for us hard core guys and provide capital to stay true to what they are. Magic is another animal and doesn't have the same demographics for client base .
Either way they are both amazing when you catch a good day there

... replacing an occasional branding opportunity with real revenue, and full time employment for the staff, ensuring the future of the mountain.

I have to assume Magic will try to open by the 26th, or X-mas week will be a financial black-hole. I just looked at the livestream and Magic is brown.

Dec 18 Update: Hard to believe that just as we repaired enough of the damage from the July flood to begin making snow, along comes another flooding event. We have already seen almost 3″ of rain and it is expected to continue today with temperatures in the upper 50s. While we would like to open this weekend, this storm is doing major damage. The snowmaking team will do it’s best when given the opportunity by mother-nature beginning Tuesday night. Unfortunately there seem to be almost no temps during the daytime hours this week for snowmaking so it’s all start and stop. So think colder and snowier!

Dec 19 3:30pm Update: Snowmaking guns lit on Upper Magic Carpet down through Medium this afternoon and evening. Too warm on Wednesday but will look to Wednesday night to re-start. Frankly the cold windows are too short and mostly nights which limits productivity as we work hard to open for Christmas holiday week. Our team will do whatever it takes.

Dec 20th 12:30pm Update: Snowmakers were out all last night making snow at Summit, Upper Magic Carpet, down to Medium and Sunshine Corner. Guns got wet around Noon with warmer temps so we are shut down until re-start tonight on upper half of mountain. Much colder temps come in on Thursday night which will allow snowmaking on lower half from Wand down to Show Off. It’s not a long window down low as it warms during day on Friday. There is no snowmaking probably after Friday Night, so it will be touch and go to see if we can get enough down to open for the holiday week. This crew will try its best with what mother-nature gives us. Stay tuned.

Thanks for posting these.
