Magic Conditions

I'm nervous that snowmaking will be delayed. They're still cleaning silt out of the holding pond while snow making temps have arrived. 12/16 is opening day. That's far from a sure thing right now.

Crud.

Dec 11 Update: Welp, that storm fizzled for southern Vermont with little to no real back-end snow. So it was primarily a little over an inch of r**n which degraded the natural snow base and some of the snowmaking from last week. The temperatures for this coming week are briefly cold but then warmer at the end of the week. It leaves the snowmaking team with not a lot of time to try and get us a mid-mtn way down for 12/16 and definitely not summit skiing, although that is where the coldest temps will be. Temps get cold enough at around 9pm tonight to fire up the system, but with marginal temps, there will be marginal production, so we will mostly go up high to grab thos colder temps to increae productivity duirng that short window. If we can make enough to open mid-mountain with Green Lift we will try for that with colder air on Wednesday night into Thursday. Otherwise we will push opening until the following weekend before Christmas. More to come. Think Cold!

Magic has officially pushed back opening day to 12/22. At this point xmas week could be a disaster if they can't open enough trails. Best case right now is one trail from the summit for this new opening day.

Ouch.

Sounds like magic
Sure does, it's always something. This year they couldn't make snow when everyone else started because of the silt in the holding pond. That cost them a normal start and now could cost them much much more.

I hope to hear a conserted effort to continue to improve the snow making operation there moving forward. They need more efficient guns, and a bunch of them.

Is Black approved and ready?

I was just curious about it, not trying to imply it was the crucial pinch.

The weather is not really going to be cooperative for Magic to crank out substantial man made snow over the next 2 weeks. I hope I am wrong.

They continue to have No Magic.

Usually I think of Plattekill's and Magic's fate as being closely tied, but not during this last storm.
