Only other xc stolen gear story.... we were at Mt van Ho sometime in the 1990s, same time as national biathlon Championships. One poor guy was panicking because his rifle was missing.

Ya appear to be more comfortable in yer trees.
 
There is a lot of theft out there, not limited to Jersey. My buddy had his snowboard stolen at Hunter when he went for apre-ski. Last year, I remember internet sleuths helped track down a snowboard theft at Snowbird thanks to security footage.

Personally, I always try lock my stuff at base areas. I only don't lock if I'm at a non-busy mid-mountain lodge.
