My guess is this has been Putin’s endgame since Crimea he just needed sufficiently weak world leadership. Obama too popular Trump too unpredictable.

Why would Putin attack Ukraine under Trump when Trump was doing Putin’s work for him (attempting to weaken NATO, extorting the President of Ukraine, etc.).

Also, Putin attacked Georgia under George W. Bush. What does that mean, “not2brite”?

They literally changed the Republican platform on Ukraine at the 2016 RNC. Check the tape.

Different reasons for these conflicts. Crimea holds Russian military bases and more importantly controls access to the Black Sea for Russian energy exports which are its most important asset.
