This was my 9th day in a row.
Expectations are predetermined disappointmentsWell aware of the refreeze situation, but I expected more than one trail off the summit to be groomed.
I get it. I had the same reaction when I got to Platty yesterday- “this is really firm. Why didn’t they groom more stuff more aggressively?” It occurred to me that they were hoping the sun would soften everything up and at that point we would want the bumps to still be there to play on. Eventually that was how it developed for us but it could have stayed cold and been a big disappointment. The Stratton ops guys probably had a similar plan and it just didn’t turn out the same up there. Bad luck.Well aware of the refreeze situation, but I expected more than one trail off the summit to be groomed.

Skiing is fun.We need to compile a list of NYSB truisms, life lessons and pro tips. It will be titled “The Wisdom of the Upstate Skier”.
Sno I’m just curious why you never seem to go to Sugarbush. I have only skied each of them once but I loved Sugarbush. Thought it was WAY more fun and interesting. I do not ski trees at all (yet) so could be that. Also seems to be alot less crowded. Both reasons for me would be enough to offset the extra hour drive each way.Another day and another shit show at Stratton.
Multiple lifts down? Check.
Summit delayed until around 10? Check
Only one open trail at the summit? Check
Massive lift lines at the open lifts? Check
Lodges already packed to the gills at 11 with a huge line at the cafeteria? Check
Not surprised, not impressed.

I always thought it was much further than it actually is. I have stayed in Lake George quite a bit this year and bounce between Gore (35 minutes) and Whiteface (1:20). Killington also is only 1:20. Was very surprised when Sugarbush turned out to be only 2 hours. It may get me to consider Ikon.Sugarbush is not nearly as easy to get to, from a lot of places in NY? That's why I don't get there as often as I would like.
