Global Weirding

In certain areas, the global warming impact of skiers is going to be greater. Here in the Catskills, many skiers drive a long way to get here. If you added up all the miles driven of all the skiers at Hunter, Windham, and Belleayre (and Plattekill to a much smaller degree) from NYC, NJ, and LI, etc., the total each weekend day is likely astronomical.
And, what are most people driving? I don't see many EVs or small cars in GP's lot. Lots of big ol' 4WDs and extended cab trucks, though.

That will never happen. A water war will erupt, and I'll gladly fight to keep mine. If there's no feasible water source where you live, move.
I have this weird thing built in to me, I like it to rain where I live.

I hate the rain!!
But I know it’s important

Rain should be banned from December 15 - March 15. Precipitation should only come in the form of snow those months :) I really hate rain on golf days or if my yard is so soggy I can't mow it. When things get dusty, dry and my lawn is brown I love the rain. Nothing like rain while you sleep or while sitting on my porch as a rain storm rolls through on a hot summer day. I love that smell :)

Mowing lawns and golfing are not eco-friendly. Jussayin.

$250 for the Snow Bowl! I'm blown away.
Hey, if the market is there that’s capitalism. It’s definitely a telltale sign of where things are headed for skiing as the climate puts a pinch on it.

Most of us on here won’t still be skiing when it gets super crazy or I don’t think so anyways. I’ve been wrong about things enough though that I know that I don’t really know.

Haha... well I could just let my grass grow and then get fines from the town or get berated by my wife...the latter being worst :) Or I could kill it and never have to mow it, maybe even pave it... that doesn't sound ecofriendly either. Also grass absorbs carbon so there's that :)

I've had the golf course discussion with others. Sure golf courses are less ecofriendly than leaving the land undeveloped, but for developed land a golf course is probably one of the more ecofriendly types of development. Full of trees, ponds and grass which all absorb carbon and supports wildlife that would otherwise be pushed out. Yeah growing grass in an arid desert region is unnatural and could be a burden on water supply. However in water rich regions like Western NY it's pretty natural and no one is being shorted water at the golf courses expense. Many even use their own well water and/or runoff from retention ponds.
