Vail Restructure?

I'm rooting for Jen Roe. I never met her face-to-face, but she was very cool about my last visit to Hunter. She was very relaxed about our approach to the mountain, cheering us on all the way.

I just imagined a My Cousin Vinny scenario as the Hunter and corporate Vail people take a meeting.

I can hear the Hunter guys snigger when the Vail guys talk about icy conditions in the west.
Yo, fahgetaboutit.

I find it amazing that the people who work at these Vail resorts (or, really, any giant corporation in a rapidly consolidating industry) seem to have absolutely no sense of worker solidarity, even as their friends lose their jobs & livelihoods.

just keep toeing the company line, boys. Surely your job is safe.

MC where are you seeing a lack of solidarity?

I'd doubt anyone inside of VR is truly surprised by this. How could they be?

One reason big companies buy up smaller ones it to get "economies of scale." Translation more revenue with less "overhead."

Yes, this is the company line: we’re just consolidating our marketing, so those local people, the ones that know their mountain & know their customers? Those people are redundant and can be let go.

lots of people in other departments repeating Vail’s reasoning, just like you did.

I’m sure it’s fine. It’s not like Vail is going to centralize ski instructing & lift ops. Those guys’ jobs are perfectly secure ?
