Vail Restructure?

I find it amazing that the people who work at these Vail resorts (or, really, any giant corporation in a rapidly consolidating industry) seem to have absolutely no sense of worker solidarity, even as their friends lose their jobs & livelihoods.

just keep toeing the company line, boys. Surely your job is safe.
Well what the heck are they going to do? Everything is we are all in this together BS, people think they are part of the team. They pull them in on a Friday and say your positions has been eliminated here is your severance. Everyone feels sad for a hot minute and then are back to living.

This is a correct distillation of the “every man for himself” philosophy that is (unfortunately) the dominant thinking among today’s working class.

like I said, no solidarity.

OK you fall on the arrow first and may be others will follow. I am for the most part happy how things are going.

Even in heavily unionized companies (like the one I work for) marketing types usually lump themselves in with management and don’t go for that kind of stuff. It makes them easy targets when the big bosses are looking for something to trim. The shift workers in the ski business would be more likely to sign up for - and benefit from - a union. It’s hard to unionize seasonal workers though.

Another excellent distillation of the “every man for himself” philosophy.

You want to throw in a “if you aren’t successful in this country, it’s your own damn fault” for the trifecta?

Sure go ahead if you want to. What's your point again? You quit the private sector, you brave warrior.

welp.....here we go again with the toxic political crap.
Not entirely sure why I can’t say “I wish there was more worker solidarity” without you whining about politics.

Yes, I like being in a Union because I like worker solidarity and worker’s rights.

my point was: I wish more people had my attitude and less people had the “every man for himself” attitude, particularly when they see their friends and family lose their jobs.

I wish more people had my attitude

haha me too! sigworthy!

More seriously I will miss having marketing people who are locals. Hunter is probably the VR that affects me the most.

Have you heard that there won't be anyone at Hunter? Certainly could happen. I do remember seeing that there is a marketing position open for W-B.

bold added
" . . . Between the 22 new, centrally-based brand marketing roles and marketing and communications roles based in our resorts, there are currently 65 open positions, for which any impacted employees are eligible to apply. . . ."
