The Fire and Rain and Smoke Thread

Air Quality Index? All I know is high is bad. 177 today significantly less shitty than 390 yesterday.

Before yesterday it still meant Al Queda in Iraq. Remember them?
dont; they own all the golf leagues now? ...oh wait that's the other guys

This is from Skiology Matt. I don't know if he's right. I hope so. Especially the "uncommon" part.

"What we saw yesterday in parts of NY, PA, NJ, and CT will likely not happen again in broad fashion on the East Coast in the near future, nor possibly in our lifetimes as this was an extreme and rare event brought on by both an uncommon number of fires and a persistent blocking pattern that allowed the smoke to concentrate and travel long distances with abnormal long-term northerly flow into the East Coast."

I am heartily done with not recognizing global warming's effect on the weather [not the climate but the actual weather]. When I first looked at global warming posts like Hanson of NASA in the late 80's they made certain probable predictions. Some not all have come true , some are actually worse than predicted , a few are not as bad, but for my grand kids who love skiing I hope you youngers get politically active, and not just for skiing.
