The Fire and Rain and Smoke Thread

There should be an immediate province-wide draft of all able-bodied people to fight the fires. Same deal for the western US when the fires inevitably start there.

Air quality has been very poor for the last many days but improved today with a wind shift. Funny you ask about rain, there are actually a few drops falling right now but not enough to make a difference. Pretty much half of Hinterlandia is on fire. This is a good reference:

firesmoke.ca

That’s a great resource. The number of fires burning in the US is a surprise, particularly in the southeast and Texas. Smaller scale, but the potential is there. Concerned for the Dak’s.

Thanks. How dry is it up by you?
I'm in NJ and it is dry AF. SoAdk is dry but there is a chance for rain today and tomorrow.

We were well into the 300s last night. Pollution number now is 220.

Took at look at AirNow.gov for the first time. Even central NC had poor air quality today because of the fires causing smoke in the mid-Atlantic and New England.

great we're number 1!

Wow! Rochester area is actually down to 52 this morning. Though I expect that may increase this afternoon as winds shift from west to north.
