Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

Assuming a speed of 400 fpm, the North Quad is a 9.4 minute ride. Once you add in all the stops, you'll be well over 10 minutes, possibly up to 15. I'd say it adds roughly 20 minutes compared to just skiing down Echo.
And if you're starting from the bowl that's on top of Hudson chair, + pipeline + BR Quad. That's easily a 40 minute journey

Yes people (me) need to plan better if they need to get off the mountain at a certain time, but it shouldn't be a Vail level of time and effort to get back to the base.

Next time just call an Uber. Or park at Ski Bowl in the morning.
It’s a multi-peak ski area just like Vail. Why shouldn’t it take that long?

Anyway, we are all lucky people. And this year feels like the bowl has been connected for more weeks than most - im glad to see Hudson chair running today even if im stuck downstate.
The reason the lift has run more this year, despite the terrible weather, is snowmaking improvements that came along with the addition of Backwoods.

The section of Peaceful Valley between Eagle's Nest and Oak Ridge has been a problem spot since the beginning. It was always the first part to melt out, resulting in the closure of the entire area. This was because it did not have its own snowmaking line. The only way they could cover it was to blow a huge pile at each end with a fan gun hooked up to a generator. When Backwoods was added, the snowmaking line installed with that trail was extended to cover this section of Peaceful Valley.

The snowmaking system at the Ski Bowl is a mess. It was haphazardly thrown together in a completely illogical way. 46er is the only trail with its own dedicated snowmaking line. The Eagle's Nest line actually runs from the top of Peaceful Valley to the bottom of Burnt Ridge. The Oak Ridge line continues down Peaceful Valley until the top of the Village Slope. There's also a spur line to cover the top of Hudson, one to cover the bottom of Moxham, and another to cover Paradox. Pipeline had a spur line that covered the pitch just before the Peaceful Valley/Eagle's Nest intersection, but that was combined into the Backwoods line this year. The section of Pipeline above Backwoods does not have its own snowmaking line, but there are hydrants installed in the main pipeline (hence the trail name) that feeds the booster stations for the upper mountain. There is no air, so they will run portable fan guns off generators to cover it.

How do you know all this Sno? Are there public system maps of this stuff or just careful observation?

Credit where it is due. He is just a really good researcher and has an incredible memory.
And he knows what he is looking at.

I saw the new plumbing (huge diameter pipes) near the reservoir, but had no idea what I was really looking at, beyond some kind of upgrade that would affect the entire zone, not just one trail.

Does anyone know if Hudson has been sold? There are a ton of ski areas out there who would love to get their hands on a 12 year old Partek with about 5 years worth of hours. I couldn't find anything on the NYS surplus auction site. I don't really see it being reused within ORDA.
