AFAIK this is the seventh weekend Ski Bowl is connected. Three days a week + Presidents week = 25 days. It doesn’t add much to the alpine experience. Yesterday it was Oak Ridge only. If it were gonna save HS Nordic racing by providing a venue in poor winters then it might make sense to develop it, but I don’t think Nordic will survive the poor winters that are the new normal no matter what they do at Ski Bowl.Having to use Cedars, Pipeline, or Hedges to North Quad going the other way is a dictionary definition of ‘first world problem’.
No one swears louder than me when I’m headed back to the bowl at 245 and Twisters Little Sister is still closed and I have to bomb at the bottom to Cedars, shaking my fist at the NYSEF cabin as i go by and i continue to swear as i skate cedars.
Then i get to the BR chair, where there is no line, i sit back on a nice high speed chair, and im happy.
And having to use Hedges to North Chair going the other way does not add 40 minutes. Maybe 15 minutes?
Anyway, we are all lucky people. And this year feels like the bowl has been connected for more weeks than most - im glad to see Hudson chair running today even if im stuck downstate.
