Ski Area To Change Its Name

Giving power to the weak and fragile was meant in a much broader sense then in this specific case about the ski area.

It’s a civilization trend right now that’s creeping down a slippery slope. The vibes are almost fascist or communistic. Agree with me right now MTV or you’re a gawd dang racist!

*last sentence is a sarcastic joke

I know it seems to fit into a cancel narrative, but as someone that stays somewhat connected to the hill, I’m here to say there was no evidence of mounting outrage from an offended group where the hill succumbed to pressure.



It’s ok for a business to look in the mirror and proactively make changes, potentially unpopular, based on who they are and what they want to represent. Whether it’s a name change, putting in a terrain park or flattening expert terrain.



If a significant number of locals and regulars aren’t bothered by the name change, it shouldn’t for others.

I actually remember when I was volunteer coaching and explaining to the kids how to run suicides, just for a second, wondering if calling them that would get me in trouble so I asked the other coach if they had a different name now. He was like, "I dunno. What else would you call em?" We went with suicides. The world didn't crumble.
