Ski Area To Change Its Name

All these name changes are nice gestures but actions speak louder than words. If people would be kind, honest and compassionate names wouldn't mean dick.
Whatever bro, I uploaded a new profile pic in support. Vibes……

This. Being offended or "hurt" is a choice in relation to names of inanimate objects/places/businesses. All of this cancel crap is fucking dumb and super silly.
Agree, 100%
It used to really bother me, now I'm to the point where I don't even care. Not even a little bit. I still feel as though the trophies for everyone mentality started all this BS.

Conversely, I am always amazed how upset people get by a legacy name change. People/places/businesses do it all the time…and good for them. I haven’t lost any sleep since i started putting Pearl Milling Company syrup on my waffles.
I’ve been skiing at S6 intermittently for nearly 30 years…and I’m ok with the change. Heck, even the Woodstock locals simply call it “Six”. Lest we also forget the perceived “hard core” aspect of the legacy name is also false advertising for a 600ish vert feeder hill that caters to families.

I really don’t care what the ski area management team calls that ski area. That’s not the point. The point is that we shouldn’t continue giving power to the weak and fragile because of….you know, feelings. This mentality of “If you don’t agree with me then you’re a racist” is complete garbage.

Yeah, but “giving power to others” most likely wasn’t the case here. I visit the area periodically and I was there over Prez weekend. I saw no evidence of local protests nor was aware of any petitions. While rising sensitivity concerns were the major factor, also did good business sense.

Whenever I said I was taking my young family there, it was often either met with a confused look requiring explanation, or “that’s a terrible name”. Not a great look for your brand.

Giving power to the weak and fragile was meant in a much broader sense then in this specific case about the ski area.

It’s a social trend right now that’s creeping down a slippery slope. The vibes are almost fascist or communistic. Agree with me right now MTV or you’re a gawd dang racist!

*last sentence is a sarcastic joke
