Awarded? ORDA paid Warners Bros hundred$ of grand$ to host it. The $how must go on...I don't know when ORDA was awarded the downhill race.
Did ORDA have plenty of time to file a work plan? UMP’s take more time for approval.Seems to me, however, that they had plenty of time to file an amendment to Whiteface's UMP.
APA ain’t the DEC.ORDA filed an amendment a year ago to build new mountain bike race trails at the Ho. APA approved it pretty quickly.
Did the board mention the issue at their board meeting last Friday at the ski jump complex?I'm as big a tree hugger as anyone, but Protect's press release sounds like a cry for attention.

I don't think it's about the UMP. I think the ski areas are allowed to build facilities for skiing but their permission to build for other uses is less clear. That's why the Protect Adirondack objections get so much traction. As one of the commenters in the article said, Whiteface has been altered for decades. I don't know when ORDA was awarded the downhill race. Seems to me, however, that they had plenty of time to file an amendment to Whiteface's UMP.
IT's another ORDA management failure that they spent so much to get the ski jumps ready for the WC then lost it it because they neglected the observation deck.ORDA board approves $1.8M for venue improvements
LAKE PLACID — The state Olympic Regional Development Authority board of directors approved funding for three projects at two of its venues during a meeting on Friday, with the total cost estimated at $1.8 million. This includes repairs to the observation deck at the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex...www.adirondackdailyenterprise.com
