Protect The Adirondacks

That course looks amazing! Kudos to the trail builders!!

But, I don’t know the rules of which ORDA is involved with as far as usage, and ORDA unfortunately had a history (negatively of course🤷‍♂️) of not playing by the rules. So, bad on them for not doing what easily could have been done.
Could it be that the terrain modifications would not have been approved???
If that was the case, carry on😉

The Protect group is very good at omitting important details about the DEC land classifications while shouting about Article 14 and "forever wild". According to the NYS DEC, Whiteface Ski area is classified as:
"

F. Intensive Use

[APSLMP] An intensive use area is an area where the state provides facilities for intensive forms of outdoor recreation by the public. Two types of intensive use areas are defined by this plan: campground and day use areas. These areas provide overnight accommodations or day use facilities for a significant number of visitors to the Park and often function as a base for use of wild forest, wilderness, primitive and canoe areas.

[CPSLMP] An Intensive Use Area is an area of State land where the department may:

  1. offer opportunities for an array of outdoor recreational activities that are appropriate to a wild forest setting, and
  2. develop recreational facilities that will accommodate relatively high densities of visitors while conforming in design and intensity of development with the wild character of the Forest Preserve. Intensive Use Areas include campgrounds, day use areas, fishing access sites, ski centers and visitor information centers.
"

There has been mountain biking at Whiteface for over 2 decades. Stating that building a MB trail "is not allowed" is nonsense. MB is allowed. ORDAs failure to properly file the plans ignores the actual real world, timely, business decisions needed to hold an event. ORDA is tasked with improving the local economies around the venues. Sometimes the time frame needed to file the proper work orders and approval paper work does not exist.

The WF area has been been dry with drought conditions.
Most of the riders say the course is sandy with rocks and is gonna get cut up.
The dust is flying.

Well, they'll just have to suck it up.

We need a set of lawmakers/politicians brave enough to drag the language of the NYS Constitution into modern day. Groups like Protect have ridden the current language to ridiculous heights.
The main complaints seem pretty ticky tack:
