ORDA's Latest Screw-Up

The World University Games will be coming to Lake Placid in a few years. So yeah, they needed a facility to accommodate that. After having NCAA races where these kids are waxing skis in a tent when it's 25 degrees out, I think it's OK. And again: snowmaking, lodge, updated trails have all been in the UMP for nearly 40 years.

I'm not in the tax bracket to walk around in country clubs, so I can't comment on the comparison.
Yeah, I'm not talking about that event, though. It would make no sense to spend $500M on an event that will bring in less than 10% of that. I'm talking bigger.

Side note: Peter, you can get a golf membership for $200 (or less) in the L.P. area.

Wild guess: I'm thinking the only event that would run $500 mil would be the Olympics. Based on the kind of venues IOC has chosen the last 20 years, a smaller town like LP is probably off the table for that. A biathlon or nordic world cup would be way less expensive, but I'd have to dig down to find some numbers.

Golf. When I was in the wine wholesale biz, late 1980s one of my accounts was a country club in Rye. The F & B manager told me with a straight face, a full membership is $50,000 and we think that's a very good value.

Anyway, I don't play golf.

Mt VanHo Cliffside Coaster - $65 a ride !!! Are you kidding me !?!?
The bobsled ride is $95. The zipline is $45. I guess that makes the Coaster seem like a deal?

Killington coaster is 4800 ft, Berkshire East is 5400 ft, Mt Vanho is 7800 ft.

Roller coasters scare the $hit outta me. Mountain coasters, I'll watch the video.

Won't do roller coasters. Get too much of a headache. Not interested in the bobsled either.

Mountain coasters have brakes and only go down. First one I did was a short one in northern Minn. on a family vacation about 25 years ago when the niece and nephew were tweens. Nephew and I got to use up everyone else's second ticket. :)

Best one I've ever been on is at a section of the Great Wall of China. The staff at the curves kept flagging me for going too fast. Wasn't busy so I left plenty of room between me and the coaster in front of me.

Yeah, mucho expensive. You can do the one at Jimminy unlimited for 4 hours for something like $50.
Apples and oranges. The JP slide is quite short and pretty tame. Have you done it? Or the slide at Berkshire East?

If they have not changed it the one at jimney can be far from tame. I've gone by the mess from a person going over the wall.
