Well you have a 50 million dollar facility only few people will enjoy. It's world class. From making sno to changing your gear. Everything is up to date. You walk around at country club and things are in pristine condition. That's what you have with van ho.

I don't think this was done in the dark. I don't think 9 figure expenditures for Olympic venues is done in the dark either. That's why you need to have another "host the world" type of event.

The World University Games will be coming to Lake Placid in a few years. So yeah, they needed a facility to accommodate that. After having NCAA races where these kids are waxing skis in a tent when it's 25 degrees out, I think it's OK. And again: snowmaking, lodge, updated trails have all been in the UMP for nearly 40 years.

I'm not in the tax bracket to walk around in country clubs, so I can't comment on the comparison.
