Magic Conditions

Good morning,

The mountain and Londonderry area have no power and there is no estimate from the power company when it might return. Therefore we will NOT be open today for skiing. The storm continues to have sustained winds of 30mph with gusts of 50mph. The warm winds and rain have done significant damage to the mountain as well in terms of snowpack, fallen limbs and flooding so we will be working all day to patch her back together.

For those that purchased tickets for today online, our ticketing partner (info@getskitickets.com) will be processing refunds.

The team is heading out on the mountain now to asses the damage.

As soon as the temps drop into mid 20s later today and hopefully power returns, the team will start up the snowmaking system where it is needed most to restore some weak areas. Looks like good snowmaking temps through Saturday and much of Sunday. The groomers will do their best as well as soon as temps drop and they can begin patching areas and grooming the snowmaking trails out for Saturday. We will get a little snow tomorrow as a clipper rolls through--maybe an inch or two. While not much, every little bit helps.

The Tavern is also closed until the power returns. If it does so by the afternoon, we will be open for dinner.

Thanks for you support and we look forward to opening for the weekend to provide skiing, riding, and good times, even if it is on more limited terrain.

As you know, our crew will do whatever it takes to get us all back on the mountain no matter what mother-nature throws at us!

Stay safe and see you soon.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to ski there, or anywhere in VT, today.

Magic family grabbing last licks on Talisman.

Greetings from Londonderry,

Thanks to the hard work of our mountain ops and ski patrol teams, we were able to grab summit skiing and the West Side one last time last weekend! The weather has not been kind this season, but luckily we have a great crew doing whatever it takes to keep us skiing and riding through the end of March.

More of the same happening for this weekend. The weather once again has given us a smattering of everything with mixed and wet precip. But, both Brownie and Kyle have been working the groomers hard all week to consolidate some snow down to the mid-mountain so we can enjoy over 800 vertical feet of skiing and riding for final turns Saturday and Sunday. They've pushed man-made snow from both middle of Magic Carpet and Lower Trick and farmed it down to Wand and Hocus Pocus to reinforce and create good continuous surfaces for us off the Green Lift to those trails, plus Carumba into lower Red Line and Show Off. The beginner area will also be open.

Groomers making Magic happen for the final weekend!

It's also Spring Fling Saturday and we're going to have some fun with crazy costumes, Flamingo Toss off Green Chair for prizes and, of course, T-BAR shenanigans. Josh has some great music lined up as well with Your Friends playing 3-5p on the deck, followed by our favorite reggae band The Big Takeover on the BLT stage from 5-8p. So while the terrain may be a bit limited, the party won't be!

Pfister Mountain Services is here Friday to install new sheaves on Tower 5 after doing an emergency repair on another mountain lift earlier this week. Final parts have been received from the machining shop so all is go on the Quad to complete that lift. More sheaves will be pre-positioned for install at other towers further up the line by groomers early next week while we still have a little snow left before the trails turn muddier. It will take a little time as they work around spring conditions on the mountain, but the path to finishing the Quad is clear.

We have one last episode airing Friday Night at 7p for Confessions from the Red Chair", and you can tune in tomorrow here

Also, please save the date of April 9th for another fundraiser to benefit Save the Children's Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund. If you are in the area, Magic will be hosting an event developed by Will Reid and Lexi Young, both of whom have Ukrainian-born mothers. It will be great food and music (Western Terrestrials) from 5-10pm, so please help us make it a big turnout! Thank you.

^^This is a pretty major effort to open 800 feet. Props to Magic for loving their customers.
