Magic Conditions

We had Indy reservations for this weekend along with slopeside lodging. Pushing it to next hoping they can get this resolved and some more trails open. Not good. We still believe.
yea been watching this as well, we have tix for 1/23. All we need is some snow and some lifts. To add insult it looks like even if the snow comes they have apparently dialed back their uphill policy...

Quad allegedly needs either a sheave assembly modified or entire crosspiece on tower 13? Requiring use of the crane which would have to be driven up there, which they have been keeping a snow-free path for, but which may soon get covered in snow. AZ intel unsure of whether sheave parts have finished being machined.

If that fixes the issue then chairs need installed and lift tested and inspected.

OPERATIONS & RED LIFT UPDATE:

Greetings from Magic,

Apologies for the late note, but we are dealing with a very fluid operating situation. The news is a bit mixed as Covid plays an increasing role in our day-to-day operations.

Good news first: We will re-open next on Saturday at 8:30 am with Red Lift to the summit! Red passed state inspection and load-testing today. Green Lift and the beginner area conveyor lift will also be running this weekend. Snowmaking operations resume tonight on Show Off and Wand to add those trails for the weekend, and we will then be making additional snow on Upper Trick into Magic Carpet to add those as well at some point this weekend!

Now, the harsh reality of Covid on a small ski area. We just learned tonight of another case in ski patrol that effects our ability to operate at a safe level for tomorrow (Friday). So unfortunately we cannot open Friday with less than minimum required patrol. We do have enough patrollers for the weekend scheduled at this time.

In addition, as noted previously, our staff in food & beverage has also taken a hit with Covid, so while we will continue to operate there this weekend, it will be limited to deck grilling and some take-out window offerings-only for lunch. The Tavern will have drink service, but no dinner service until next Thursday due to our Covid safety protocols. In addition, the Magic Merchants store will be closed, but purchases can still be made online.

This is especially hard on a small business as we must do our best to take care of our smaller staff as best we can and protect others. I do think we will get through this peak Omicron infection period and come out in better shape for MLK and beyond.

We appreciate your understanding and support, and look forward to getting you out on Magic skiing and riding despite these mounting staff Covid issues that are effecting every one out there.

See you on the mountain this weekend or in the near furure!

I'm always surprised when I read those words every season. I remember 20 years ago thinking, "when are they going to replace this thing?"
