Season Greetings from Londonderry,

On behalf of all our staff here at Magic, we wish you all a joyous holiday season and a Merry Christmas!

Sorry for the late night email but we wanted to relay the latest news so you can plan your holiday week. Despite our best efforts on Red Chair being load-tested and approved before Christmas, there is just too much work on the new drive by Larry Wollum of All Ski Lifts to get her ready until 12/28 for Vermont state inspection. Summit skiing will begin on 12/29. Our team here has done everything they can and we've spared no expense to move this process along in concert with Pfister Mountain Services after the new haul rope delivery was delayed by a month. I'm personally disappointed in not being able to usher Red Lift along more quickly despite the hurdles presented. I know our staff did everything they could, so any frustration out there should solely be directed at me.

We will re-open with the Green Lift to mid-mountain and the learning area as of Sunday December 26th. Our opening weekend on 12/18 was a lot of fun from mid-mountain and we will ride it out until next Wednesday with Lower Magic Carpet and Vertigo. And, our snowmaking crew is battling the weather to at least make snow at night to get us a way down from the top, as well as begin to build up the terrain park and base area snow pack. There is yet to be a moderate-to-big storm in the forecast but we are hopeful as there is at least some natural base to work with currently so that terrain could be expanded much more quickly with 8" of new snow versus these intermittent cold snowmaking windows we keep getting. But it's definitely colder at night now as the guns were going again from the top last night and tonight,

Tickets for 12/26-28 will now be lowered to 50% off the ticket window price (now just $39 online) since it is mid-mountain skiing and riding for those 3 days to start the holiday week. For those who already purchased online, we will credit the difference in price or credit the ticket to another day or provide a full refund. Your choice. For Indy pass holders, your reservations can also be moved or canceled if desired. This can all be done through our ticket partner GetSkiTickets by emailing them at info@getskitickets.com or 970-233-7040.

I've never seen a mountain struggle so much with lifts recently. The black chair has been there for three years now, and is still off-line.

The traditional Magic bad luck rears its ugly head again. These guys never seem to get a break.

Greetings from Magic,

While the Red lift passed its state inspection and load testing yesterday, some mechanical issues arose with the new drive during operation late yesterday. Adjustments were then made to the new drive by the contracted electric drive engineer and was ready for operation by midday. After a couple hours of operation, the lift had a mechanical failure with the drive system. During that failure, one lift chair on the non-passenger downhill side of the lift line swung violently against a tower and fell off the line. All passengers on the uploading side of the lift were successfully and safely off-loaded at the top with the lift running on slow speed. The Vermont state lift inspector was here soon after to review the lift situation. Both Pfister Mountain Services and the electric drive engineer will be working with us to diagnose and fix the mechanical failure in the drive system. It will most likely take some time and we will keep you posted on our findings.

We will have the Green Lift running to mid-mountain as before and we will have reduced priced tickets available.

We’ve worked hard to get this lift ready and approved, and will work hard with our lift contractor to get this issue diagnosed and fixed as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and patience. I will keep you posted.

- Geoff

Fuckna that sucks. Is there any progress on the black chair? Magic can’t seem to catch a break lift wise.

We had Indy reservations for this weekend along with slopeside lodging. Pushing it to next hoping they can get this resolved and some more trails open. Not good. We still believe.
