Killington Conditions

Considering there's been very little snowfall this month and last year that mid April dump extended the ski season quite a bit for many places, they are working with what they got. Don't recall a warm up quite this intense last year.

Since the extended spring season was reinstated in 2013, this is what I have for the last day that lifts other than Superstar were open.

2013: April 28th (K1, Canyon)
2014: April 27th (K1, Canyon)
2015: May 3rd (Canyon, Snowdon Triple)
2016: April 17th (K1, Canyon)
2017: April 23rd (K1, Canyon, North Ridge)
2018: April 29th (K1, Canyon)
2019: April 21st (K1, Canyon, Snowdon Six)
2021: April 25th (K1, North Ridge, Snowdon Six)
2022: May 1st (Snowdon Six, Ramshead)

They missed the last weekend of April in 2016, 2017, and 2019.

March of last year was pretty damn terrible with multiple significant melt outs and zero natural snow. This March was much better, but this April has been worse than last year.

Thanks for the information! :)

They got hit hard by the meltdown, but still plenty of good skiing to be had across Killington Peak, Skye Peak, Snowdon, Ramshead, and for the final time this season, Bear Mountain. I skied all day and hit every open section. The best trails were Double Dipper, Needle's Eye, Outer Limits, Skye Lark, and Swirl. Worst were Cascade, Upper Bittersweet, and Vertigo due to being very thin.

Concur with sno was a good day. Don't have anything to add really except how fast stuff is melting out. Vertigo was only a few questionable spots yesterday and today was adventure skiing. Cascade was the same by midday.

Today ends my east coast season. 31 days (4 out west so 35 total). I'm very satisfied.

On to Palisades for a final hurrah thanks to work in a couple weeks. I've ended my season out there 4 times so far and it's always been a highlight. Hope same holds true this go around

When I skied down to Bear around 1, Lower Skyeburst had several very chocolatey spots, but you could ski the whole thing without walking. Just checked the webcam now, and it's done, toast, completely impassable without walking.

Another thing for anyone intending on going next weekend, is consider bringing your lunch. They have very limited food options, which caught me by surprise. I knew the Peak Lodge and Bear Lodge were closed, despite both being accessible from skiable terrain. I expected them to consolidate everything to the K1 food court, but it was closed They only had a small BBQ setup on the K1 deck. Even the food truck they have at K1 base was closed. I didn't check the Ramshead food court but I assume it was closed too.

Love the shot of Highline with a lollipop in each bump.

@snoloco any estimate on how long Killy will go?

Might be fun to have a Sunday end-o-season meetup.

By coincidence I skied Killington on April 16 both this year and last year. I would estimate that Superstar Glacier was about 8-10 feet higher last year vs. this year. So if you are thinking about going, do it soon. There was a pretty big difference between Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon.

What's the latest Killington has blown snow on Superstar? Have they ever fired up the guns during a cold spell to fix up some rough patches to help make it last longer into May and even June? I was there 5/13/22 and the conditions were great. This season has me thinking I might need to consider hitting it earlier.
