Killington Conditions

Back at K today. Equal to yesterday if not better. From the start lapped East Fall which was perfect corn. Then moved to North Ridge and then Needles as they had baked out and got a few Dream maker and Vertigo bump laps in. Once that baked went over to the Canyon and lapped Cascade which was absolutely perfect corn. Changed things up with a few Superstar and Northstar laps which were both primo before finishing the day with a few more Cascade laps and then Superstar and Middle Ovation to finish things off around 2:15 to drive home.

Conclusion to a couple stellar days at K. I have 2 IKON days left and forecast for next weekend although warm looks good. High chance I'm back for a second helping.

Headed back for weekend 2. Although going fast still plenty open and reports from today coverage is still good. Will report back as I tailgate in a lawn chair in 70 degree temps with a Focal Banger after the ski day tomorrow.

Absolutely. Incredible. Spring Day. Everything skiied beautiful and wasn't too sticky. Great crowd and vibe to. Pond skim was fun to watch.

Coverage was great but there were a few hike to spots. Mainly lower Ovation. Besides that and Catwalk very little to worry about as far as hitting stuff. Even then there wasn't much.

To be skiing Cascade, Downdraft, Outer Limits (Co-ROTD), Vertigo (Co-ROTD), Double Dipper (runner up ROTD), Downdraft, East Fall, Dream maker, of course Superstar ( 3rd place) even Catwalk and others in mid April with wall to wall coverage is something. Glad I saved my last two IKON days for this weekend. It paid dividends today and I expect it will tomorrow.

Unfortunately the Canyon Quad crapped out and needs a new motor, so if you want to ski Cascade, Downdraft, or Dipper, the a lengthy runout awaits, and when the runout melts, then those trails will not be accessible at all.

This was the only bummer of today but a minor one. Lapping K1 is not one of my faves but there are much worse things in this world like not getting to have skiied the canyon on a glorious day such as today.

The runout melting is a bigger problem. Then you won't be able to lap it at all off any lift. This ruins the last 2 weekends of April. If it's a normal spring day (not 80-90 degrees like today) then the gondola is tolerable.

Some people don’t mind taking their skis off and walking the runout. No lift = snow preservation

Outer Limits was the run of the day for me, would have been awesome to have been skied Monday to Thursday this Week. Last day for Bear is tomorrow. Ramshead, Snowdon, superstar, K1 all expected to run after Sunday.

This is tentative also, but April 24th is the projected date for Superstar Only so earn your turns while you can!

Just like some people like wind holds because they can hike and have it to themselves. I'd rather have lifts open to all skiable terrain.

That would be very early to only have Superstar. I consider April "good" if they can make the last weekend with K1 and/or Snowdon. Last year they did Snowdon and Ramshead on April 30th and May 1st. K1 and North Ridge had enough snow but they could not run the gondola due to lodge construction at the base.
