Really the time spent charging will be a non-issue if the trucks can run 20 hours a day.

If they build the trucks with diesel generators like trains they will be able to run 24 hours/day.

Either way it would be a huge step forward vs the time limits on human driving.

BTW how does an auto drive truck get gas and pay for it?

Terminal to terminal trucks like UPS and FedEx will be fueled at the terminals. I'd imagine over the road long haul trucks would have contracts with truck stop companies like Pilot and Love's to fuel the trucks. Whether that be electric charging, diesel, or hydrogen.
