Hunter news

Those days are long past. And I prefer the east, too, but for many reasons besides skiing.

I'm always saddened when I see some young person with potential cut themselves short by settling in Vermont,
I "cut myself short" and "settled" for Vermont as a younger me. But I guess I didn't have that much "potential"...

Can't say I regret my decision one bit, great community, food, laid back lifestyle. People have different reasons for going different places, seems like DMC has similar reasons for choosing Hunter. I personally like the scale of the north east, having friends scattered about in cities from DC to Boston its nice to be within 5 hours of all of them, close to mountains, beaches and the employment opportunities that the megalopolis that is the I-95 corridor doesn't really suck.

The Catskills also have a lot to offer that wouldn't exist without the influx of people from the city and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It might sound pretentious but I personally like being able to get a decent oat milk cortado or croissant on my weekend trips to the Cats. NYC is fortunate to have 4000' mountains within 2 hours and vise versa.

It's obvious.. And it's been a long time coming. illegal parking is dangerous. I hope they all get towed.
I don't get up there as often as I should. I know that city people parking to party below Kaaterskill falls is a long time issue.

I love in the Northeast to support my Mother when she needs me.
Until she doesn't - I stay 3 hours north of her.
Hunter is actually a chill place to love - close enough to NYC to work my cyber security jobs and play music gigs. Affordable housing and low taxes compared to other places. Beautiful landscape. Living next to a creek.. New restaurants opening old ones getting better. New people living here are more diverse now. Feels good here.

I can’t believe you settled for UVM. You had so much potential.

I love the dumpy old Catskills with glimmers of hope scattered about.
