Hunter news

There's a reason people with money and a little taste hang at Windham.

But, the whole argument is dumb. I'm always saddened when I see some young person with potential cut themselves short by settling in Vermont, instead of going all the way to real mountains with real snow in the west. But, the Catskills? C'mon.

Vail Inc. is destroying whatever is left of Hunter. Sad. And now the town elders pull this stuff.

Nothing to do with Vail. Nothing to do with snow(except entitled idiots that ski)
It has everything to do with public safety.
We warned people for years and ticketed - now it's time to take action. Obey the signs or get towed - it's so simple.
I never got a ticket at our place in Brooklyn - i make sure I can park when I park.

I got paywalled for the article. Isn’t that Platte Cove road? I like that there is only spots for a few cars. It keeps people out of the super secret swimming holes. Only dumb asses park on the road. Maybe booting them is better so they aren’t stranded but it’s more of an emergency vehicle issue so they’ve got to go. A lot of those areas have been impacted by overuse. Last time I was up there there was broken glass and graffiti on the rocks. Limiting usage by reduced parking makes sense to me. Just walk in. I’d rather hike in to a nice spot than drive a car to a ruined one.

It's both Platte Clove AND the 23a mountain road.
23a would be the biggest issue because it's really the way to get people off the mountain for emergencies. I've heard of ambulances backed up because of people double parking for pickups etc... This has become a public safety issue for us living up here. Hunter actually created parking for people to get to the falls and now runs a shuttle to help. But it doesn't stop entitled people from ignoring the signs

"Nobody goes there anymore cause it’s too crowded.” Yogi Berra.

things tend to go to shit when there's too much human encroachment. It's happening here. No matter the original intentions humans fuck things up. We suck.

Every. Single. time.

OT: You moving? I ain't young for sure, but I'd rather live in the east. I think.
