Winter Weather 22/23

Is this low off of the coast supposed to be pushing in by now?

I don’t know anything about weather, but if it drifts too far off the coast, we get less snow, right?
Not this case
Very strong upper air and strong easterly fetch off the Atlantic “should “ pump in major moisture

So, speaking of making arrangements. Where to sleep during this? My plan is to drive up Tuesday morning and ski Belleayre. If Plattekill is open Wednesday I'll head there, if not I'll do another day at Belleayre.

While I'd like to sleep somewhere out there, my concern is that all restaurants might close up early Tuesday leaving me very hungry. The safer bet is to sleep in Kingston, but then I get to drive back and forth.

Suggestions?
I would try to get up there Monday night. If you are planning on Belleayre first then try to stay as close to the mountain as possible. Personally, I like Pine Hill. There are no restaurants open on Monday or Tuesday around there with or without the storm. The gas station/store/pizza place is closed for good. Try the Belleayre Lodge. It looks like they have availability. The cabins have kitchenettes. Most places have a two night minimum. Second best bet coming from the east IMO are the cottages at the Phoenicia Lodge. The mountain might have problems opening and travel will obviously be super sketchy.

If there’s no power and Platty opens bring cash.

I hope we get a chance to ski on this before it rains/melts/refreezes! How do you think it will be at Belleayre and Gore Friday-Sunday?

I'm guessing that almost no matter what the skiing will improve after the snow.

Not really based on any science or anything. This stretch has been so laden with potential.

Heres the NY Driving forecast, at this moment:

72 Hour

Curious what other flatland dwelling pow chasers are thinking for travel plans this week.. I've got the go ahead from work to take either Tuesday or Wednesday and chase. I've got 4x4, terrain management, snow rated KO2's, plenty of ground clearance and confidence in my own driving abilities but not that of others. Is travel to the western Cats on Wednesday morning foolish? Will I be trapped overnight if I go up Tuesday?

Everything I've seen indicates that the prudent should either leave now, or sometime after 8am Weds.
