Windham Mountain Going Private?

Why is it I would go back to Italy? I've already been there. In fact. I want to go back and do EXACTLY the same thing I did last time, hiking in Tuscany. I like to do the same things over and over.
Why not include skiing? Italy has the Alps.

I think Windham may have a shot at the private club thing…..maybe. It’s close enough to a massive population hub and with what Hunter has evolved into there may be enough demand for this kind of experience.

Someone mentioned that people with big money fly out west or to Europe to ski but not everyone wants or likes to fly. Covid has made a lot of people Leary of flying too. Being able to drive two hours for a weekend getaway with an uncrowded and more posh ski experience might actually work.
I agree with the massive population hub and the Hunter bit but for the folks that can afford this kinda thing it has nothing to do with not wanting to fly. They will still do their Alps trip, or Jackson, or Aspen and the Windham place will serve the same purpose as their Hamptons getaway to @TheGreatAbyss point. That said, why live on the mountain at Windham when you can get a beautifully restored farm house on a couple hundred acres for arguably less money somewhere down the road and perhaps off exit 19 instead of having to make the trek to exit 21 and that right there is what will hold this whole thing back. The desirable areas for the mega wealthy in the Catskills are the areas closest to and surrounding the Ashokan Reservoir. Ustler County has got a bit more culture and familiarity for these cityiots, Green County is lacking in that regard and trophy wives won't want to spend all week secluded up the mountain road unless there is a critical mass of others just like them to keep company and frankly I don't see that happening. Plus these people are fickle, they are always looking for "the next" place.

The beaches out in the Hamptons rival beaches world wide. Windham not so much

Six figures...are you including real estate?

This is why I think it may remain open to the public at a high price point. The on mountain real estate would probably be worth more as weekly rentals then as exclusive residences for club members who couldn't rent it out. I can see a family of novice/intermediate skiers justifying a "luxury" experience at Windham vs flying out West, especially if it ends up costing the same when accounting for airfare, car rentals etc...

Hmm we got Ikon this year and due to a change in winter plans were thinking of skiing at Windham 'with a reservation'. I wonder if there will be no available reservations.
