How far in advance do you know about northern lights?100% true...but from a planning and viewing time ...seems like more bang for the buck...

That's what I was trying to convey to @TonyC, who sees it purely through the lens of an eclipse junkie.it’s just marketing another reason for a party.
Wonder if ya could see the lights in the sky from the magnetic earth when it goes “dark” during the eclipse for a few minutes. Might still be too bright out.I saw them while camping in northern Quebec and they were gorgeous -- hearing wolves howling in the distance made it even better. But you haven't seen a full-totality eclipse, right?
you don't ..some night are better, and of course weather dependent ..Iceland is just a example..any high latitude location usually works..How far in advance do you know about northern lights?
You say that like it’s a bad thing.it’s just marketing another reason for a party.
Ya gotta go to know,You say that like it’s a bad thing.

Mine didn't quite reach ^^ that level but was pretty impressive -- reminded me of Blue Oyster Cult's 1978 laser show!It filled the entire horizon, rolling by in ribbons, speeding up, slowing down, greens, purple… just mind blowing.
