Today's Ride

Bought my first all suspension bike in 96.
I think I was on a hardtail until '07 when I got the Jamis XAM

And bikes have changed an incredible amount since 2007!

I bought a turner high line in 07. It was my 40 pound 7 inch travel do it all dh xc bike. It was actually a sick bike but steep and tall compared to today’s standard am geometry.

Trail construction has changed or evolved with the new bikes too. It’s a different world today.

This came up as a fb memory this morning, the predecessor to the XAM was the 2000 GT Agressor. I held on to this for rail trail/family rides and was reincarnated as my primary ride in '15 after my hip replacement, when this shot was taken. I was enjoying the mixed surface so much I got a gravel bike but the ol' GT is still rollin' as a grocery getter and and grandkid trailer hauler!

Fun and tough ride last night. A whole lot of up, down, roots, bridges, trail stairs etc. Despite being in the Rochester area it looks like it could be in the ADK. I was definitely sucking gas at the end. 🤣

Saw some guys on Ebikes and they looked like they were having more fun🤣

I missed the most important picture, the parking lot Apres beers, but this is one of them (Google). This one is a pretty rich flavor to drink all 16oz alone but a good one to share.

Looped the Northern section of Fahnestock State Park and visited one of the many local mysterious stone chambers.

Lots of walls, enclosures and ceremonial stone landscapes throughout the area.
