Today's Ride

Trail building going on at the Ho in advance of the UCI mountain bike World Cup races. The short events will use some of the World Cup xc trails and what they're building now.
It looks like xc course design has progressed quite a bit. It should make for better spectating.

Someone clearly hasn't been keeping up with WC XC racing the past 5 years. The Crans-Montana course this year was downright nutty. XC ain't what it used to be, with bikes as good as they've gotten and bike handling skills having improved quite a bit XC courses are arguably becoming more interesting than DH tracks which on the contrary all seem to be turning into smoothed out high-speed motorways.

Right you are! I don’t keep up on much anymore to be honest.

The men's highlights vid from Crans Montana gives a good idea of what the course is all about. Winner Tom Pidcock was also on Ineos's Tour de France squad, although he didn't finish.

Some sections of the 4 Birds trail in Rockaway would fit right in.
