Today's Ride

Nice.(y)
I take it ya don’t operate the yellow excavator.
Looks a bit different than yer nice Arizona trails.
Thanks. I’m an operator for this company and operate in AZ too but a lot of stuff in the desert goes as hand builds. I do a little bit of everything from excavating to design, consulting yada yada. I’ve mostly been in that machine in the background so far this season. It’s a big one for trail construction and pretty darn fun.

Yeah be careful. I broke my hand last November riding. First broken bone in my lifetime.
Broken hands/fingers really hurt and it sucks. The last time I dislocated some fingers there were a bunch of tiny hair line fractures and it took a good year or so for some serious pain to finally subside. That was probably 10 years ago now and I’m still feeling that.

I’m dialing everything back now. This is a weird summer for me being not really fired up to ride much. I can’t afford to get injured and be out of work so my focus is very different than it used to be.

I now appreciate how long it takes. It was end of November when I broke the base of my fifth metacarpal bone (closest to the wrist area) of my right dominant hand when I went OTB on a new trail going too fast. 7+ months later I still feel it especially when shaking hands. I also had to give up the interlock grip when I golf.

Oh well, I was a careful conservative rider. I'm even more careful now :)
