Tales from the Hinterlands, 2020-2021

Well today was off the stoke meter... Jeff the Mann and I hit Limberlost as the “rope dropped”, so to speak. Dumb fun. I’ll let the pics do the talking.

Next up today I visited SBR for a ski to Secret Hill.. the snow was friggen deep and everything I knew it would be. We managed one beauty run, set a skin track back up, and as I looked down to my skis to step out to de-skin, there it was. Telemark binder fail. I should add that I ensured this occurring by posting just the other day on a FB Telemark page that the Voiles were the ONLY binding I haven’t broken. JONG I am.

Good golly.

Chair 2-7-20.jpg

T'was a significant day today, as the Hundwalden Backcountry Ski Resort welcomed its first guest since the pandemic started. After his epic morning at Limberlost, TD headed over to our place and happily complied with the "car as base lodge" requirements. I have to say, once you have started being super-careful regarding COVID precautions, it is hard to ease off. Since March 2020, we've had two people other than Blue Toes and I inside our house.

Socially distanced chit-chat and snowblower admiration complete, we headed out to Secret Hill. The trusty Charger BCs made for easy trail breaking, as my week old tracks were barely discernable:

We did one nice run run at Secret Hill:

Dave was happy at the bottom of run, despite running into a tree root ball.

Yay, I'm upright.jpg

After the skin up, he discovered that entropy had taken over and his binding was pooched. So one run it was, we shall reconvene.

Ha, me too. They are starting to deteriorate from being outside all the time. I'm thinking of starting a GoFundMe campaign so all the NYSB people can support the acquisition of new chairs.

I'm in for a dolla. How much to replace it, you know in US DOLLARS. :)
