Next up today I visited SBR for a ski to Secret Hill.. the snow was friggen deep and everything I knew it would be. We managed one beauty run, set a skin track back up, and as I looked down to my skis to step out to de-skin, there it was. Telemark binder fail. I should add that I ensured this occurring by posting just the other day on a FB Telemark page that the Voiles were the ONLY binding I haven’t broken. JONG I am.

No worries. I just fixed them. Threw on a pair of G3 Targa Tours. How long will they last? Who knows.. Whatever. Gonna pay a visit back to Secret Hill tomorrow aft. Got some farming to do.

FYI there was a surprise refresh of the snow pack today, another 10 cm of light and fluffy stuff. Very localized, did not see a flake in the air at work all day.

Well today - actually this afternoon - I sought out revenge. It truly is a dish best served cold, as the snow can attest. My lifelong buddy Dave McV and I paid a visit to a Secret Hill that is accessed through a strangely familiar trailhead. Dave, being Dave, forgot his skins, which only slowed his Nordic self down on the steeper climbs out of the Secret Valley - he did have his trusty Karhu Guides. He very kindly opted to play cameraman, using both his GoPro (hopefully some footy later..) and my phone. The late afternoon light was stupendous on the west facing ridge. I’ll let the pics do the talking.
