Stuart talks to Alterra CEO (IKON)

Not good for customers, the little guys that can't compete against Goliath and how monopolies are built. Monopolies are never good for customers or innovation.
I wish I could find all my posts on various forums when Max Pass/Epic/Ikon were starting up. When everyone was so happy that they could buy a pass with 30 resorts I was warning that it was just price fixing/monopoly market power and that it wasn't going to go well for skiers forever.

A fraction of what he'll earn by arranging a sellout of Ikon to Vail :(
Not gonna happen. That would not really increase their separate abilities to extract monopoly profits very much, and it would attract the attention of the FTC and the possible break up of the whole thing. Cows get fed, hogs get slaughtered.

Good forward thinking on this one, MM.

Well if they weren't interested in supporting the mountain then they shouldn't have purchased it.

"... milking the cash cows and starving the dogs." which is how corporatization sucks the life out of good things.
