Stuart talks to Alterra CEO (IKON)

That makes sense. I guess I should have stated alpine or lift-served.

This looks to be the largest expansion of marginal terrain in several decades.
Miles of world-class groomers with no knuckledraggers? That sounds dreamy.

Generally mountains don't expand upward. The original peak is often the tallest, snowiest terrain around.

Most expansions in recent decades have been lateral—not downwards. Grand Targhee, Kicking Horse, Lake Louse, Red…expanded outwards adding terrain at elevation with snow conditions on par with the rest of the resort.

Aside from some terrain on Park Bench, that’s not what this DV expansion is. The bulk of the terrain will have snow conditions of poorer quality than the rest of the resort. Considering the effects of climate change, it just seems odd and wasteful.

It’s not odd or wasteful if you develop real estate which is really what most of the ski resorts are for in Park City.

I’ve hung out there a little this summer and I’ll admit that the town is pretty darn fun. I enjoy it but I prefer being over in BCC.

They called it "Sin City" when I was there for a week one summer years ago in the 80s..
They were building lots of big houses around Big Jack’s golf course.
The clubhouse wasn’t built yet but the cartgirls were world class.

I played there with the ex. I think I decided I wanted to live there in retirement, looking around. Not now. I was appalled when I was there last time in winter. The town is kinda gross with every bad element of L.A. and Dallas nightlife in shoulder to shoulder crowds. We ate at what Yelp told us was the best restaurant, and it was horribly overpriced mediocrity, with kids running around screaming. Ruined.
