Stratton Conditions

After lunch Ursa was shut down and the Gondola and SnowBowl HSQ were opened. It snowed moderately all day and that kept conditions decent until the end of the day. The wind was less than yesterday, but still gusty.
We were considering Killington this morning but they had a bunch of windholds plus the roads were a little sketchy in spots. We had a great day.

Did anyone lay eyes on Bear Down or Free Fall? Free Fall was reported open and groomed, but they hadn't previously reported snowmaking on it. Meanwhile, they reported snowmaking on Bear Down, but it has not opened yet.

Freefall was open with an experts only sign. I did not ski it. Beardown was open a few days ago but there was some problem with the left turn to get to the Shooting Star. That might be why it was closed today. There was no snowmaking on Beardown today.
There are holes in the snow down to dirt on almost every trail.

Conditions are decent today. Most lifts running and minimal lines. Single digit temps and still windy. Lots of snow on the sides of the trails from wind deposits. Blowing snow on a few upper mountain trails including Tamarack. Happy to be here

The Super trail is not open and no sign of snowmaking.

Great day today. Did a few groomers early at the bell which were good with loose windblown and an inch or snow of fresh from overnight. The main attraction was the bumps under the snow bowl lift and the woods. Skied most of them and all had great coverage and soft snow except Squirrels Nest with the cliff. Also light crowd. Didn't expect moguls or the woods to be in, so today vastly exceeded expectations. Back tomorrow.

Wow. Another stellar day. Couple inches last night. Deserted mountain. Windblown on trail sides to be found early. Didn't do as many glades today but did Vortex and the Kidderbrook ravine and am sad I didn't get to them yesterday. Hands down best on the mountain and they were absolutely LOADED. Both pictures are from those.

Really impressed with Stratton after not skiing there in years. Has some good legit woods and them leaving some of the steeper trails all natural and ungroomed was a big change from when I skiied it last and it was "Flatton". The lack of crowds definitely helped too. I'll be back at some point. Maybe even this season.

@snoloco Beardown was open today but still had huge whales. Freefall was open and groomed with the skiers right left natural. Was good. Vortex woods were even better.
