It's pretty rough just seeing the amount of smoke and haze that is making its way east today. Even where water is still falling we are being impacted by these fires. Can't wait for the great climate migration to even further drive up property values here in the north east. When walking in Downtown Maplewood NJ the other day I ran into a college buddy of mine who moved to SF 10 years ago. He was back on the East Coast looking at houses because he didn't want his daughter breathing in smoke for another summer. He said: "Climate change is real, it's here, and California is fucked. People with money are starting to leave".
Not to bring open political warfare to the blog, but Idaho, Montana, and Utah are either drought ridden or literally burning, yet are completely represented by a certain political party that refuses to even acknowledge the issue. Maybe this could finally be a wake up call, but I'm not hopeful.
Well it sure has become more crowded with humans everywhere. I’ve been out west since 94 and it’s a very different place now since then.

I’m looking forward to see how Vegas reacts to this.Lake Mead is only a few feet away from an elevation that requires some drastic water usage cuts.
I’m seeing similar things all over the west on my travels. While in Bozeman I went to McDonald’s for a coffee (just got off the plane)they were closed on a sat afternoon. No staff

This is the new normal, especially in the west. The quality of life is going down. It’s either smoke, fire, drought, extreme weather, closed forests etc. that are becoming damaging to recreation and tourism.Just left work you can really smell it.
ETA: I'm home now. I was basically sneaking out early (5pm) to get a bike ride in, before 7pm daughter pickup.
Forget it. It is nasty out.
