Didn’t ride today cause of all the hazeBased on the looks of what I just coughed up in the sink after my mountain bike ride, I'd say the air quality is the equivalent of smoking a few heavy spliffs.

There is a strong odor of smoke and a haze throughout the tri-state area. Please do not panic.
The odor/haze has traveled thousands of miles across the country as a result of the 75 wildfires that have already burned more than 1 million acres in 13 states.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and State Department of Health issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the state of New York for Tuesday, July 20, 2021. The advisory will be in effect 10:00 a.m. through Midnight.
The major concern is the “Fine Particulate Matter” in the air. Exposure can cause short-term health effects such as irritation to the eyes, nose, and throat, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, and shortness of breath. Exposure to elevated levels of fine particulate matter can also worsen medical conditions such as asthma and heart disease. People with heart or breathing problems, and children and the elderly may be particularly sensitive."
