Skiology... What's your take?

I think this forum would be higher than a broad skier average, regarding the percentage that chase conditions.

Scott and I made the call at 4am Monday am to ski Hunter, so there's at least two here.
Would probably be true of any online ski forum, especially a regional one. Although it's pretty hard to know what lurkers and readers who don't even create a free account actually do in terms of ski days.

EDIT: this is in response to Harvey's question above

WIndham has been my home mountain since 1984. I have a pass, but am still planning on hitting Plattekill this Friday depending on how the week plays out. When we're up at the house, I'm locked into either Plattekill or Belleayre as alternatives to WIndham depending on local weather and snowfall variations. When we're not up at the house, I have some leeway in making day trips, usually deciding the destination close to the day. For example, last season I ended up hiking Windham 4/20 after the big last season storm we had; hiking Plattekill and even driving up to Gore or Whiteface were also options. Last Monday I had MLK Day off and made a last-minute decision to head to Mohawk Mountain in CT for the first time. Ended up being a great day with excellent snow coverage and conditions. I imagine it must be really fun when it's 100% open. Definitely rode bigger than its actual elevation and vertical drop. When I eventually retire, I'll be making more last-minute choices based on the latest weather and conditions.
Called Plattekill to confirm they weren't doing a midweek "powder day" opening before hitting Hunter, even with an Epic pass.

90% of posters there are Blue Mt season pass holders and, apart from occasionally flying out west, won't ski elsewhere unless Blue is closed.

And that's due to their social scene as well as their passes. They show up pre-opening every weekend day, always park in the lower lot in the same area, ski for 1-2hrs til it gets crowded, and the tailgate in the lot.

I'm one of the only regular contributors there that does not have a Blue pass and doesn't participate in that scene (there's also one guy who is an Elk regular), though I have dropped by the tailgate a handful of times.

I'm there for the 411 on PA conditions, and as a NJ based skier, wish there was a Pocono skiing forum that was not so devoted to one mountain.

I was kinda "hanging around the office" at the end of the day Sunday, hoping Laz would walk in.

Shannon and crew, as soon as they saw me were like "don't ask us Harvey we don't know!"

about the percentage of people who a) adjust their skiing fishing plans significantly based on expected conditions or snowfall bite, and

b) those who follow the opinion of that Facebook comment: "Most people have a favorite resort port or boat ramp or a second home. (...) Most of us are just curious how it’s going to be where we’ve already decided to go."
FIFY.
Used to fish a lot in the finger lakes and the Big O.
When they have big money tournaments folks get tight lipped and there are "No Communication" rools.

Most recreational folks don’t mind sharing accurate information.

This holds true with our gang at Greek Peak. Only difference is we go to the bar instead of the parking lot. Granted they give us our SundayFunday locals discount, but more importantly it's good to give back to them. They truly do a lot for us. They're an incredibly good neighbor.
Plus they let us throw down at chair 5 Superbowl Sundays.

When are ya gonna strap on some boards Mr Camp.?
You can do it, just cruise for a few runs to start on some of the packed pow now to get ya goin again.
It’s like riding a bike.

If I were a more compassionate person, I would be worried about his mental health.
I followed skiology couple years ago. After following he friended me on Facebook.
It was all good to the pandemic broke out. Just like other Facebook pages , politics broke out. I only had followed Skiology for skiing. Not medical advice from a stay at home computer junkie.
Matt only has one opinion and that is his.
Would I ever pay? never. Weather app is good enough for me.
